Packing List

Note: this list is for general reference and is subordinate to any instructions given by Mr. James. For the Berkeley conference, which does not involve overnight stays, some of these items are not necessary.

  • Money (for food) — you will be buying yourself a weekend’s worth of meals. You can bring your own snacks, but eating out for meals will be impossible to avoid, as there is no way to cook at the hotel.
  • Pens and paper for writing resolutions and notes during committee. You may be allowed to bring a laptop, depending on the conference (DMUNC and SMUNC are usually no-tech conferences, while BMUN allows laptops)
  • Your research and position paper, to refer back to if needed. Also, bring any facts and documents critical to your position in hard copy.
  • Formal wear and anything you need to maintain it, such as lint rollers. Also, make sure you bring nice shoes and black socks.
  • Deodorant! Formal clothes tend to be hot.
  • Homework (if you need to). MUN takes almost all of the weekend — people usually do their homework either before or after the conference. Doing it in between committee sessions is possible, but you’ll miss out on spending time with others.
  • Clothes to sleep in, comfortable clothes for taking public transit, toothbrushes, toothpaste, the usual toiletries.
  • If your formal shoes are not comfortable, you might want to bring walking shoes for lounging around in the rooms in.
  • Phone and charger, for communicating with Mr. James and coordinating with fellow delegates.

DO NOT BRING:

  • Anything against school rules or anything illegal. It’s easy to leave something in your backpack, so check it. Remember: MUN conferences are technically a field trip. Anything against the rules at school is also against the rules at MUN.
